Position Description
The Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC) dba The Colorado Afterschool Partnership (CAP) Network is focused on fostering statewide partnerships that improve outcomes for children, youth, and families through high-quality, school-linked, afterschool, summer, and other expanded learning programs. CAP is one of fifty networks that comprise the National Network of Statewide Afterschool Networks, funded in part by the C. S. Mott Foundation. CAP focuses its work in the following areas:
- Partnership and Policy Development: Create a sustainable structure of statewide, regional, and local partnerships, particularly high-quality school-community partnerships, focused on supporting policy development at all levels.
- Sustainability: Support the development and growth of statewide policies and activities that will secure resources necessary to sustain new and existing school-based/school-linked afterschool, summer, and other expanded learning opportunities for all children in Colorado.
- Quality: Support statewide systems to ensure that all of these programs are of high quality.
Position Overview
CAP is seeking a full-time Communications & Events Manager. The Communications & Events Manager will work with the Network Lead to develop, coordinate, and lead the CAP Network’s initiatives as well as plan, coordinate and lead CAP events such as the Annual Conference, Spring Showcase and other events. The successful candidate will exhibit evidence of the following qualities:

Specific Duties
Communications:
- Coordinate, organize, and prepare for convenings, meetings, and events to support the network’s priorities and initiatives (virtual and in-person)
- Develop an annual marketing and communications plan that aligns the Network’s priorities and contract deliverables. Includes the identification of core strategies, timelines, and key performance indicators
- Develop and implement effective marketing communication strategies that build CAP brand awareness throughout the state of Colorado
- Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials
- Work with web developer to ensure website is up to date
- Create social-media marketing content to keep stakeholders informed
- Utilize social media marketing tools to maintain the CAP’s brand
- Gather, create, and manage content for CAP’s bi-weekly Newsletter
- Update social-media KPIs and website metrics for monthly board meetings
- Write, edit, post, and promote relevant content on CAP’s news blog
- Attend and assist with monthly Board Meetings as needed
- Assist the Professional Development and Events Action Team with the goals and activities of these groups as outlined in grant projects and other CAP initiatives
- Manage CAP brand assets and maintain CAP brand consistency
Events:
- Work closely with the Network Lead and Colorado Department of Education to lead the planning of the Annual Fall Conference – a 3-day event, and the Spring Showcase, a 1-day event
- Explore and secure event space, including food and beverages, AV, and other amenities
- Recruit and coordinate keynote speakers, speakers for breakout sessions, panelists, and other presenters
- Recruit and coordinate relevant exhibitors for the Resource Hall
- Work with Action Teams to recruit sponsors at all levels
- Create and coordinate the marketing materials for sponsors and their benefits packages
- Manage our registration platform, currently Eventbrite
- Create signage and CAP materials, including PowerPoint slides, hand-outs, post cards, etc.
- Create and implement a theme and/or additional activities throughout the conference, including the Welcome Reception
- Manage the details and communicate clearly with CAP and CDE staff and Volunteers
- Lead the planning and implementation of other events as they arise, such as Lights On After School, and professional development sessions
Qualifications and Skills
CAP is seeking candidates who meet or exceed the following qualifications:
- Preferred experience includes several years of work in the area of communications/marketing.
- Experience event planning required
- Experience with social-media platforms required
- Knowledge of graphic design platforms such as Canva Pro and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with email-marketing platforms, such as MailChimp
- Experience with content management systems, as well as WordPress
- Experience with registration platforms such as Eventbrite
- Basic coding skills are preferred but not required.Adept at working with a broad range of people and organizations, facilitating collaborative work to identify and achieve shared goals
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, public speaking, and social media
- Capability to work in a blend of locations including home, remotely, office area and event spaces
- Project management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Event Management skills; ability to stay calm and problem solve in active event spaces
- Experience managing and coordinating volunteers
- A sense of humor and strong work ethic
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed, primarily in-state
Additional Desired Skills
- Dedication to systemic change to benefit children, youth, and families
- Understanding of local, state, and national afterschool and summer programming
- Familiarity with website design (WordPress)
Compensation
Status: Full Time
Compensation: $21/hour
