Students, families rally for afterschool programs in Lamar, Colorado

The Partners for HOPE Center and over one hundred students, families, and staff from Lamar School District RE-2 came together to celebrate afterschool programs for the 23rd annual Lights On Afterschool!

The celebration was part of the Afterschool Alliance’s nationwide event on Thursday, October 20, 2022, and the Center’s first-ever lights-on celebration. Lights on Afterschool calls attention to the importance of afterschool programs and the resources required to keep the lights on and the doors open.

Students and families participated in activities such as pumpkin painting and carving, and sidewalk chalk drawing. A hot dog dinner was provided by a local restaurant and deputies from the Powers County Sherriff’s Office stopped by to visit with attendees .

The Partners for HOPE Center provides a safe place during after school hours for youth – where they can come to have positive experiences and interaction. They provide enrichment classes, prevention activities, leadership participation, homework help, community involvement and positive social interaction.
