CAP community celebrates fundraising success

Last week, dozens of community members and supporters of afterschool and summer programs came together for the Colorado Afterschool Partnership’s (CAP) first fundraiser at WestFax Brewing Company raising nearly $1,000 in support of out-of-school-time (OST) programs and partnerships.

“CAP’s first-ever fundraiser was an outstanding success due to the support of the community,” said CAP Board Vice President Stephanie Hansen. “We had great community response from multiple business and individual sponsors, as well as an outstanding raffle.”

Raffle winners took home items like a date-night dinner for two donated and catered by Mama Joy’s Creole Catering, tickets to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, as well as multiple items donated by WestFax Brewing Company.

“The real winner of this event is the Colorado out-of-school-time community,” said CAP STEM Specialist Rachel Moore.  “We will invest these proceeds back into the OST community, ensuring they have everything they need to support Colorado youth and their families.”

Moore was instrumental in leading the event, bringing together multiple businesses and individuals for the event and raffle, including WestFax Brewing Company and ShaWING Food Truck who donated 10% of the day’s proceeds to CAP.

Other supporters include Arts in the Open, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Mama Joy’s Creole Catering and Foothills Parks & Recreation.

Throughout the years, CAP staff and supporters have worked tirelessly to foster strong out-of-school-time partnerships throughout Colorado, and this fundraiser will help CAP continue to work to improve outcomes for all children and youth through the opportunities provided in OST programs.

“This has truly been about providing opportunities to change lives,” Moore said. “All of these achievements have been accomplished through great teamwork of our staff and supporters.”
